Neutral tournament match
The boys met at Murieston, split into two teams of five, and by all accounts, both squads had a fantastic night!
We started with a warm-up, getting some touches on the ball and practicing shooting before the games began. Each team played five matches—two games of 4s, a gates game, a numbers game, and another round of Fun 4s. And what a night it was! The boys played some brilliant football, showing skill, teamwork, and determination in every match.
A huge thank you to Gareth and Carl for helping us prepare. Coach G led Team 1, and Gareth and Carl took Team 2—both squads did themselves and the club proud.
Team 1 Highlights:
Captain Ollie led by example, making crucial defensive plays and scoring goals. Victor impressed with his strong runs and tackling, netting some great goals too. Jack showed real resilience, bouncing back from tough challenges to find space and score. Struan was everywhere, showing bravery and great energy, while Rex, despite playing through an earache, put in a solid defensive shift and made some great runs—his goals will come!
Team 2 Highlights:
Declan’s speed and skill made him a real threat up front, finishing off some fantastic goals. Alfie showed great composure on the ball, using quick feet to find space and link up with teammates. Parker’s energy was key, putting in excellent defensive work and growing in confidence as he dribbled through the opposition to score. Ben provided a strong, calming presence, picking smart passes to help the team transition from defence to attack, while Rory’s strength in the tackle and eye for a pass ensured the team stayed solid at the back and moved the ball well.
I couldn’t be prouder of all the boys—what a start to Fun 4s! We keep training hard with Soccer Academy on Sunday and another Fun 4s session next Friday. Well done, Winchburgh Albion!
