vs Murieston Utd 2015 Blues
Neutral league match
The whites were in league action yesterday against a well organised Murieston Utd Blues team.
Noah led the boys out as captain this week with both teams starting well.
The first half was an end to end battle seeing both Cullen and the Murieston keeper making some excellent saves. Caleb was making his first start in central midfield and was doing well breaking up the play in the middle of the park, supported by Caelen and Marco. Jenson and Tom were both solid in defence doing well against the Murieston attack. Dexter and Aaron came on mid way through the first half and kept the same intensity working hard in the middle of the park and on the right respectively and Noah was working hard up front trying to breakdown an organised defence. Half time came with nothing to separate the teams.
Into the second half and the game picked up where it left off with both teams going toe to toe. Two minutes into the second half, Murieston took the lead with a wicked cross in from the right deflecting in off of one of our defenders. Two minutes later, Murieston doubled their lead with a good finish.
The whites never let their heads drop and a few minutes later after some excellent work from Dexter in the middle of the park, he slipped the ball to Caelen who rifled home from the left and pulled a goal back.
Midway through the second half, Caelen won the ball well on the left and played an excellent pass up the line to Dexter who held the defender off really well and slotted home past the keeper to level the score.
The scoring wasn’t done though and both teams continued to press for the winner. Three minutes from time, Murieston broke again and scored their third.
When it comes to fighting spirit and dogged performances, the whites definitely have it. Two minutes later, Dexter picked the ball up and went past three players to level the score yet again.
From the kick off, we managed to secure the ball with the ball falling to Dexter who started to break however, the referee blew for full time.
Some excellent football on show from both teams in a real nail biter!
All the boys had an excellent performance and showed real fight to come from behind twice. Their superb work rate and communication demonstrated that they are becoming a really strong squad all playing for each other.
The referees man of the match went to Dexter for his impact on the game and being involved in all our goals.
Well played boys!
‘Mon the Albion!
