Neutral league match
Our 2015 Whites were in Bathgate this morning for their league game against Mid Calder.
Caelen captained the team and were looking to build on an excellent result last week.
The game started slow with both teams standing off each other a bit however, after some encouragement from the sidelines from the coaches, there was some really good build up play with Marco, claiming himself an assist by hitting an excellent shot across the box which was deflected in by a Mid Calder defender.
The boys had the bit between their teeth and pressed forward from the kick off regaining possession high up before winning a corner. Caelen’s corner to Dexter who beat his man and saw his shot find the bottom corner of the net.
The remainder of the first half saw the whites continuing to press however, the Mid Calder defence held firm.
Into the second half and we continued where we left off and really starting to move the ball well through the channels. Jenson found Dexter who rifled home his second into the top corner.
A minute later, after more good build up play, Aaron hit a thunderous shot from the angle which for the second time in the match, was deflected in by a Mid Calder defender.
Mid way through the second half, Noah got himself on the scoresheet. After beating a couple of players, he found the bottom corner with the outside of his boot in what was an excellent finish.
For the rest of the game, Mid Calder were allowed an extra player on the pitch. This didn’t stop our boys continuing to play their game and continued to dominate the ball but were struggling to break down the opposition with the extra player.
With the final kick of the match, Mid Calder managed to get themselves a goal with a really good finish of their own.
Excellent performance from the boys today after a slow start.
Cullen was kept relatively quiet in goal and made some routine saves. Tom and Michael were solid at the back not allowing Mid Calder many chances. Jenson was dominant at the back and in midfielder with some excellent runs and distribution. Dexter had another cracking game, winning his duels, making some really good passes and bagging a brace. Marco worked really hard on the right and up front, assisting the opening goal. Noah, Caelen and Aaron worked well on the flanks with Caelen getting an assist, Noah a goal and Aaron’s assist from his shot deflected in for the 4th goal.
There were a few stand out performances today but the referees pick went to Aaron for his work down the right and up front.
Well done boys!
