Whites Vs Linlithgow Rose Inter

Winchburgh Albion Whites faced off against Linlithgow Rose Inter this morning, with Caleb stepping up as captain. It was a keenly anticipated game, as Inter had been the only side to get the better of the Whites since the Easter break.

Linlithgow started on top in the early stages, with the Whites camped back in their own half. The defence held strong, and Tom and Jenson did well to keep out a determined opposition. The boys worked hard to get into the game and managed to create some great chances as the half went on, with Caelen getting forward, Marco coming close, Caleb firing over and Dexter and Kai also getting shots in. I had a personal low point after a Linlithgow clearance rebounded off the post and smacked me in the face.

The score was level at the break and the second half continued to be close, but the strong Linlithgow side were the first to find the net. The Whites fought back though and Kai levelled the score with a powerful, high shot from outside the box.

The game opened up in the latter stages, with chances at both ends. Cullen had a couple of fantastic saves, Caleb cleared a shot off the line, and Marco came close for the Whites at the other end.

The game was played in a fair but competitive spirit and there were strong performances all round the park. This week, the coaches asked the referee to pick the Man of the Match, and the ref’s choice was Kai for the control he provided in the middle of the field.
