vs Armadale Blue 2015
Home league match
The whites took on Armadale Blues for a Monday night game under the lights.
Jenson captained the team as the boys were looking to bounce back from a tough result in their previous outing.
Armadale got us underway and went straight up the park and scored within thirty seconds as the whites were clearly still in holiday mode from the October break.
This kicked some life into the boys as from the kickoff and some good passing, Dexter found Caelen on the left who struck a powerful shot past the keeper to level the scores with not even two minutes played.
The rest of the first half was end to end with both teams having several chances and Cullen making some excellent saves to keep the score level going into the break.
Into the second half and Armadale were looking the more dangerous, forcing Cullen into some more good saves.
Armadale kept applying pressure and scored two in five minutes and were on top with ten minutes to play.
After a poor clearance from Armadale, Aaron picked the ball up and unleashed a long range effort that found the bottom corner to pull a goal back.
This lifted the boys are we started playing some better football but were struggling to break down a strong Armadale midfield who were very physical.
The whites continued to push for an equaliser with Dexter coming close on two occasions - one long range effort saw the keeper parry the ball out to Caelen who was unlucky not to get a shot away from the onrushing defender and a second chance right at the end saw Dexter hit the crossbar with his follow up shot going agonisingly wide.
A tough night for the boys with some things to work on in training but also some positives.
Noah and Aaron worked hard against some big physical defenders, Marco had some good dribbles and was closing down really well. Caelen worked really hard on the left with Dexter and Caleb battling well in the midfield. Jenson, Tom and Michael made some excellent tackles and some superb tracking runs. Player of the match went to Cullen for his outstanding display in goal, keeping us in the match at times!
Well done boys, some hard work in training on Wednesday and put in a good performance on the weekend!
‘Mon the Albion!
