Excellent end to end game as the 2015s took on a strong Blackburn Utd team today

Kai led the team out as captain and we started on the front foot, closing the ball down, making all our tackles and taking shots on goal.

Our strong start was rewarded when Kai’s shot was blocked by a Blackburn hand inside the area and a penalty awarded. Aaron stepped up and smashed it straight down the middle as the Blackburn keeper got some gloves to it but the shot was too powerful and we got a well deserved goal.

As the game settled down, Blackburn came into it and it was end to end with some excellent attacking and defending from both teams which was the case until the half time whistle.

As the second half got underway, Marco’s shot was fumbled by the Blackburn keeper - Cael followed in and was unlucky with his shot going over the bar.

The games intensity continued with a fierce midfield battle. Kai and Jenson were strong in the middle of the park and made countless tackles. They were supported by Caelen, Marco and Zac on the flanks who helped thwart the Blackburn attacks. Tom and Noah were solid in defence as well, clearing any loose balls that came through the midfield.

10 minutes before the end of the match, Blackburn won a corner which made its way out to their midfielder who we couldn’t close down quickly enough and he thumped it home.

The remaining 10 minutes were just as intense as the rest of the game. Cullen who was mainly a spectator in goal could only watch as a mistimed clearance nearly went in for an own goal but was save by the bar.

We had a few more chances in the final minutes but again, a second goal eluded us and the match ended all square.

The boys keep growing week on week and we can see that in their performances with this being up there with one of the best they’ve had.

Player of the match this week goes to Jenson for his dominating tackles, excellent distribution and all round performance.

Onto the next one! ‘Mon the Albion!
