Our first home League game of the season saw us gain point each with early league leaders Ilminster Girls. Having suffered a League Cup defeat two weeks earlier and strengthened with some of the JPL squad the girls were out for revenge.
The game didn't start as planned with Ilminster taking the lead on 4 minutes following a long ball over the top of our defence. As the game settled down we started to play some good football through our midfield. With Megan isolated up front a change was made and Bay was sent on to provide some support. On 25 minutes a foul on the edge of the Ilminster box by one of their defenders allowed Megan to step up a place her free-kick into the top corner for the equaliser. It looked like we would get to half time level but two soft goals in two minutes for Ilminster put us behind and with a tough task in the second half.

The second half started exactly how we needed it to, with Lauren playing a good pass into Megan who scored to make it 2-3 after 47 minutes. Our passing and approach play was causing the Ilminster defence lots of problems and they started resorting to some heavy, physical challenges to stop our flow of attacks. A tussle on the edge of the box that went into the box saw Megan fouled and a penalty was awarded. Megan stepped up and calmly placed her penalty into corner to equalise and get her hatrick. With time running out we nearly got a winner, Laila glanced a header just wide following a corner and Maddie had an effort that looped up and bounced onto the bar.

Overall a fair result with a great comeback from the girls to gain a point.
