The team welcomed an Epsom and Ewell team that on current form, with recent wins over Palace and Fulham were going to prove another big test for the team. Not the greatest build up, Emilia (concussion) and GK Esme (illness) joining Jess (ankle) on the absentee list. Rhianna took up the goalkeeping duties and newest recruit Eithne with her debut for the team.
The visitors began well, looking sure in possession and very lively in attack. For the most part in the early exchanges, Wimborne dug deep to get a foothold in the match and started to create the clearer chances on goal. Three good chances were spurned, Izzy twice and Emilie not able to work the goalkeeper before a let off for the the team, Epsom somehow not taking the lead from a corner, the ball striking the upright from a goalmouth scramble. A smart turn in the penalty area and a clean strike was to give the away team the lead with almost 20mins played (0-1). More efforts from both sides missed the target prior to the visitors increasing their lead, the Epsom striker allowed to get her shot off from a tight angle and finding the corner of the net (0-2). A disappointing half of football from the home teams’ perspective.
HT 0-2
The next goal would prove to be decisive and unfortunately for Town it would again go to the visitors with an hour played, a hopeful cross that flew in off Maddie whilst trying to clear (0-3). Another good chance fell to Carly from 12 yards which the GK fielded well before two late goals gave a humbling looking result and a lot of food for thought. A well hit drive out of Rhianna’s reach (0-4) and a good cross volleyed home by a talented number 9 (0-5) that proved a constant threat from start to finish.
A final effort from Wimborne’s RH side, again not fully testing a goalkeeper that in truthfulness had an easy game.

Summary:
A very out of sorts performance. Although constantly tested defensively, the team got into good areas which were not exploited especially early in the match, a goal then could have made for a different game. As it was, it proved a bit of a stroll for a good visiting team. This young team will bounce back however, a match up with Crystal Palace next up for the team.
Bring it Tuesday team!!
