Baddow Spartak 7 -1 Wilvale

After a really poor performance last week, we emphasised to the boys that if you put the effort in, you'll get much more out of the game! And that certainly showed in the 1st half.

We battled really hard and made life very difficult for a Baddow team that are unbeaten.

An early goal after 3 minutes put us 1-0 down but an absolute screamer from Charlie put us back on level terms.

After that, the game became end to end with both goalkeepers making brilliant saves and it stayed that until half time.

Felix, Thomas & Lucas all battled hard in defence and Max started well in his 1st start. Brandon & Fin worked well in midfield and I was particularly pleased with Charlie chasing down defenders and forcing them into errors.

But it seemed that Half time took all the momentum away from us because all the good work done in the 1st half seemed to be gone and forgotten in the 2nd half!

Concentration went and mistakes reared their ugly heads again.

A speculative clearance from their defender from the half way line, soared over the head of Rusty and made it 2-1. A goal out of nothing and very fortunate, but Rusty blamed himself and lost all his confidence.

That resulted in him making a basic error and giving away an easy goal.

But as a team, we lost all shape, desire and the ability to pass.

We gave away a penalty and more defensive mistakes meant we ended up losing the game 7-1.

But if I'm totally honest, the result really did not reflect the performance. For an unbeaten team, we gave them a good game in the 1st half, but as we all know, "it ain't over till it's over" - "it' a game of 2 halves"

We need to concentrate for the full 50 mins
