Away league match

A winnable trip to Wideopen ended in defeat for the Quay as they succumbed to two second half goals after a lengthy injury delay after Wideopens keeper was hurt.

The home side took the lead early doors with a long range strike from Kev Anstey whose first time strike from 25 yards skidded off the turf and beat Ellis Burns who probably should of kept it out.

The Saints had two great chances to level first Matty Adams on his return from clothes hopping for his holidays missed a free header from 4 yards completely missing the ball and then Joe Connor spinning before firing as hot narrowly wide.

Findlay Rippin showed them how to finish as he equalised just before half time after great build up play Mark Wilkinson fed the ball through and Fin made no mistake sliding his finish coolly under the keeper.

Joe Connor raced onto a through ball only to collide with the keeper who was stretchered off with a leg injury, the game delayed for 10 minutes

During the delay the Saints switched off and Wideopen sprung into action taking the lead with a jammy goal as Nathen Robertsons sot was blocked the ball span past Burns in the Quay goal and into the corner.

Targetman Harry Johnson had been a danger to the Quay all game and it was no surprise when he got on the scoresheet as he rose highest to home a left wing cross to put his side 3-1 up.

The Quay piled forward in the last 10 minutes but to no avail first sub Chris Lowes sent over a delicious left wing cross but there was no one there to meet it and in the final act of the game Matty Adams headed over from just 2 yards out.
