Away league match

Willington come back from being behind twice to record a tremendous away victory against a very good Stobswood side.

The home side took the lead in a scrappy opening twenty minutes when their number 9 Robert Baker headed a great cross from the left past Luke Ord into the corner.

The Quay replied immediately as the little maestro Ross Thirlaway cut inside from the left before curling the ball into the corner from 25 yards

Stobswood regained the lead shortly after half time as they breezed through the back line before Connor Leason placed the ball past Ord after two of his teammates had wasted shooting chances.

Again the Saints got back level this time it was gifted as Stobswoods right back inexplicably tried to pass back to his keeper but only found Joe Connor who was brought down in the box when he was about to score. Brandon Williams stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot scoring for the 4th game in a row.

Stobswood were denied a certain pen with the ref giving a free kick when it was yards inside the area before they wasted two great chances first their centre half crashed a header off the post from a corner and then Leason was denied by a great save by Ord when he looked certain to score.

With ten minutes remaining the Quay took the lead for the first time in the game as Connor ran on to a fantastic ball over the top by Ferrier before slotting coolly past the keeper and into the net from 12 yards.

Veteran Gareth Pugh wrapped up the points as he reacted quickest to Cal Ancrums shot being saved by the keeper to tap the ball home to make sure the 3 points went to North Tyneside.
