Willington grabbed a vital three points on the road with all the goals coming inside the first half hour to see off a battling Seghill side, the win keeps the Saints 5th in the table heading into 2 consecutive weeks of cup action.

Lee Crammond and Joe Connor returned to the side while there was a first start for striker Dylan Adamson after impressing as a sub in the two previous games, Ben McDermott and Micky Young missed out through injury with Ryan Ferrier also away on holiday missing out.

After a poor start to last weeks game the Saints raced out of the blocks this time and thought they had taken the lead in the first five minutes as Adamsons header from a Joe Connor cross bounced down off the bar before the keeper parried away with the tall striker adamant it had crossed the line but the referee waved away the appeals.

The Saints did take the lead on fifteen minutes, Brandon Williams swung in a left footed corner and Adamson rose highest to power a header home from 6 yards for his second goal of the season.

Seghill should of levelled from a set piece of there own as there centre half Bainbridge broke free at a corner and sent a header wide of Luke Ords goal from point blank range when he should of scored.

That miss proved costly as the Quay put huge daylight between the sides with two goals in two minutes firstly Ross Thirlaway cut inside from the left to drill the ball past the keeper from the edge of the box to double the lead before Joe Connor made it three running onto a great through ball from Adamson to slot past the keeper from 6 yards.

The home side ended the first half with a string of chances from corners as the Saints failed to pick up their men, Seghill failing to capitalize with Ord not being tested by any of them.

The second half saw the Quay on top again with Thirlaway running the Seghill defence ragged down the left side one of his mazy runs saw him set up Connor whose strike was bravely blocked by the Seghill keeper.

Saints keeper Ord who wasn't tested in the first half produced the save of the match on the hour mark as a long free kick from Bainbridge bounced over everyone before being superbly tipped over the bar.

Darren Walsh came on for his Saints debut replacing Adamson and he thought he had marked the occasion with a goal when he tapped home Connors left wing cross but the linesman denied him as he flagged for the ball being over the by line before the cross came in.

The game petered out towards the end with the Quay knowing the job was done Jack Renwick almost added a 4th when he beat a couple of players before firing wide with his right foot but that was the only notable effort in the latter stages as the Saints recorded their 5th win in 8 games at the start of the new season.
