vs Ponteland United Reserves

Home league match

For only the second time since joining the Alliance the Quay went top of the table after another 3-1 win their 4th such win of the season so far.

Joe Connor passed a late fitness test to start the game whilst Dale Hood moved into centre mid to replace the injured Dan Coleman with Cal Ancrum returning to the side in the heart of the defence - Ponteland were without suspended top scorer Luftur Karim and K.Spratt who tore us apart in the Minor Cup a few years back.

After a very tetchy start to the game Joe Connor lit the game up with another magical goal to add to his already great collection picking the ball up on the right wing he cut inside the left back before bending a sensational left foot curler from 25 yards into the top corner for his 2nd goal of the season.

Ponteland on a good run of 4 unbeaten replied immediately after being awarded a penalty for a Dale Hood handball tall centre forward Alex Hastings sent Dodga the wrong way to level the scores.

5 minutes before half time the Saints were back in front with another quality goal this time from Sean Conway who received Brandon William's pass before running at his marker cutting back and curling a right footed strike that went over the keeper and in from just outside the area.

At half time another injury hit the Saints as sub Matty Cartrwright suffered an ankle injury leaving Liam Malby as the only outfielder on the bench.

The Quay stretched their lead with a bizarre goal Luke Taylor's looping cross looked innocuous but the Pont keeper dropped it after challenge from Ryan Ferrier with the ball hitting Fez and trickling over the line with Hoody making sure smashing it home he confirmed that it was Fez's goal after the game.

With ten minutes remaining Pont were awarded another penalty but this time Hastings smashed his effort off the bar, he controlled the rebound and fired home but before someone else had touched the ball so it was rightly ruled out.

6 games unbeaten now for the Quay after the opening day defeat next up is a Minor Cup trip to Fawdon Fc on Saturday.
