The Quay made it 5 wins from 5 in February with a narrow hard fought win over a good Newcastle Uni reserve side on an awful pitch at the Barking Dog.
Connor Rafferty made his first Saints start replacing the missing Louis Hutton while Luke Taylor returned to right back with Dec King unavailable.
The game had barely started when Saints forward Ryan McGorrigan opened the scoring with a sensational strike taking Luke Taylors chipped pass on his chest before smashing an unstoppable volley over the keeper and in from 25 yards to give us the lead.
The uni could and probably should of equalised minutes later when there centre forward ran clear through on goal but his weak effort was smartly saved by Saints keeper Ellis Burns
The visitors rattled the bar and should of had a penalty for a blatant pull back as the Quay endured a bad 5 minutes finally snapping out of it with a mazy run from Joe Connor that saw his cross unfortunatly deflected into his own net by Uni defender Tom Clifton.
The Quay dominated the second half with sub Sean Conway and McGorrigan missing big chances to put the game beyond doubt missed which looked potentially costly when the Uni got a deserved goal when Regan Cooper got on the end of a Peter Leach cross to head his side back into the game.
Mcgorrigan rattled the bar with another stunning strike with 5 minutes remaining whilst the Uni went agonisingly close to grabbing a point when a sot from the edge of the area beat everyone except the outstretched leg of sub Matty Cartwright who somehow deflected the ball wide to keep the 3 points in Wallsend.
