Home league match
An Alex Cole goal just before the hour mark sent us to our first defeat of 2020 in a home game moved to Jesmonds ground due to our pitch being waterlogged.
The Saints made one forced change from last weeks win as Luke Taylor replaced the absent Lee Crammond in the heart of the defence.
Jesmond started the brighter of the teams and should of went ahead when their talented forward Stew Wright ran through on goal but his shot cannonsed back off the post with Ellis beaten.
Set pieces were our downfall in the 2-2 draw earlier in the season and Jesmond threatened from them again with a free header from a corner wasted by a Jesmond defender.
Our best first effort was a stinging shot from Maccas that was well tipped wide by the Jesmond keeper from the resulting corner Brando headed wide from 8 yards.
The second half started with a big chance for Brando as he went through one on one with the keeper but thinking he was offside he attempted a lob from 25 yards out that went high over the bar.
Jesmond took the lead when Alex Cole was played through by a fine pass and he showed great composure to slide the ball home to give his side the lead.
Buzz came on for his Saints debut straight after the goal replacing Ben the former Benfield player looking like a good bit of transfer business.
Brando almost levelled the game with 25 to go but his quality left footed free kick rattled off the bar and to safety.
Jesmond had numerous chances to seal the game but Ellis was in fine form making a handful of quality saves to keep the Quay in the game.
Jesmonds right back made a nasty collision with the fence behind the pitch after chasing Conway and was subbed off gladly it was confirmed he was ok afterwards.
Maccas free kick rebounded off the wall and goal mouth scramble almost saw us level but Jesmond held on to take the 3 points.
A disappointing display from the lads with a talented Jesmond side deserved winners we have no time to dwell on the defeat however with a massive George Dobbins Cup Quarter Final against Prudhoe coming up this Saturday.
