Away cup match

The Saints reached the last 8 of the George Dobbins Cup for the first time with a convincing victory over division one strugglers Cullercoats fc.

The Quay took an early lead as Findlay Rippin got his 6th goal of the season. Mark Wilkinsons corner was headed onto the underside of the bar by Ian Graham and Rippin was first to react to smash the ball home from 12 yards.

Cullercoats missed a great chance to level as winger Connor Towes walked through the saints defence with ease but he was thwarted by a smart save from Karl Charton who got down well to block with his legs.

Towes made no mistake minutes later as the ball was headed across goal by the cullercoats number 9 and he tapped home to level the scores.

After half time the Saints dominated and they deservedy went ahead when Ryan Ferrier layed the ball off to Joe Connor who smashed home a right footed strike from 20 yards

Connor then curled the ball off the psot before Rippin somehow hit the same post from 6 yards with an open goal!

Graham was moved up top and he then hit the same post after a great ball from Liam Taylor but in the next attack Graham got his goal a wonderful cross from Ferrier saw him bury a header into the corner with the keeper stranded.

With time running out Cullercoats offered no threat and it was the Saints who wrapped it up as Graham layed the ball into the path of Wilkinson who smashed the ball into the top left hand corner left footed to seal the place in the next round.
