3 goals and a red card in a frantic last five minutes from the visitors turned the game on its head after it looked like a well earned three points for the Saints.

With 8 players frustratingly missing from last weeks 9-0 win the Quay shuffled the pack with first starts of the season for Kieran Dewhurst and Noel Clynch thankfully the front three from last weeks rout stayed the same

An even first half ended goal less with strong wind hampering any chance of playing decent football both sides having efforts cleared off the line in a drab 45 minutes.

A blow for the Saints at Half time saw Dylan Adamson go off injured being replaced by goalkeeper Ellis Burns who went in goal with Luke Ord who was in goal first half going right wing due to a lack of substitute options

Shooting against the wind the Quay took the lead after the break a free kick from Jack Wearmouth was missed by the Blyth defence and Sean Conway swept the ball home for his second goal of the season.

The lead was doubled 8 minutes later, Ross Thirlaway turned in midfield before curling a wonderful ball through for Alex Foreman who slipped the ball under the keeper from 6 yards to score.

Blyth pushed players forward trying to get back into the game and with twenty minutes left they scored, a shot from the left was well saved by Burns but the rebound fell to substitute Joseph Bolam who did well to keep his volley under the bar and into the empty net.

The Quay were 5 minutes away from the win when a red card to Jack Wearmouth and the resulting penalty turned the game full circle, a Blyth corner was swung in landing at the back post where a Blyth players shot was denied by the hand of Wearmouth who was correctly given his marching orders. Captain Josh Monaghan stepped up to send Ellis the wrong way to level the scores.

The Saints 10 men looked deflated and in Blyths next attack the ball was deflected into the path of Blyth forward Joe Moscrop who smashed the ball home to complete a great fightback from his side.

The visitors added a flattering fourth goal in stoppage time when a huge mistake from Burns left Craig Hopwood the easiest goals as he ran onto the keepers poor touch to tap in to the empty net.

Very hard defeat to take after being 2-0 up and then 2-1 up with five minutes left, a lack of players on the bench costing us again with 2 or 3 players forced into playing the full game with injuries but the collapse should of still been avoided. Fair play to Blyth for showing the character needed to come from 2-0 down and win always a sign of a good side
