2 goals from open play, and so much more positivity in our play today.
We were more physical today, better communication and pushing on each other more and more!!
The biggest issue currently is taking ownership and falling back into our old habits. We were better today at getting to the ball, if not the first ball we were there to challenge for the second. We stepped up our physicality and for the majority our work rate was massively improved!
At times we got in our own way, we had players moving out of position which left us short in others, or 2 players going for the same ball and not taking ownership of it. We were punished for these mistakes.
We worked hard at training this week with our defense, and I saw an improvement today! I’m looking forward to building on what we started at training and really building a defense to be reckoned with.
In the second half we defended higher up the pitch which suited our style, but found we were beaten for pace at times, showing how important it is to stick a foot in.
So many more positives in our play today, and back to a change in formation that really suits the players we have and gives freedom in the middle of the field too!
