Whitburn Athletic 3-0 Wolsingham FC

<p>A break from the league this weekend as we entertained Wolsingham FC at home in the county cup. It's becoming a regular theme with us that we have shocking first halves, fix it at half time, then say we'll start how we finish from then on. Saturday was a prime example, so disjointed, so disharmonious, and absolutely our own worst enemy.

<p>Another rocket at half time took effect, as Paulie Bell opened the scoring 5 minutes after the interval. Dom Slaters free kick delivery from deep was challenged by Adam Newbrook, resulting in the ball falling kindly to Bell who slotted in comfortably from close range. Our lead doubled 10 minutes later as Smith broke free behind a very high defensive line, before he then squared it to Caffrey who couldn't miss. Dom Slater nearly made it three with a great long range strike clipping the cross bar. Caffrey then did make it three, adding to his impressive early season form as he broke free and slotted calmly past the keeper. We went from a pathetic first half to a second where we could and should have scored 6/7/8.

<p>We didn't change an awful lot in the second half, but it just goes to show how easy it's made to look when you do the basics right. Another cup game next week, again at home, to Prudhoe YPC.
