Whitburn Athletic 3-6 Prudhoe YPC

<p>The reverse of our season so far, with a decent footballing first half and a capitulation in the second. A first of the season for last terms top scorer Adam Newbrook opened the scoring in between squandered chances, heading in Smiths inswinging freekick. Our lead didn't last long though, as the away side countered effectively to tap home an equaliser.

<p>More of the same was required at half time, with the addition of a few louder voices to aid organisation, however instead we got the opposite. Laziness, relying on being reactive instead of proactive, and an evident lack of fitness seen us concede 5 second half goals. Two in quick succession put the away side 3-1 up 10 minutes after the interval, before Dom Slater weaved his way through to pull one back. We pulled ourselves back in the game only to roll over again, a lack of pressure on the ball allowed their centre half to rocket one in from 25/30 yards out. The game was opened up again with 20 minutes to go as substitute Dom Solman played through Smith one on one to finish comfortably. Instead of grabbing the initiative after surviving being second best for a long second half spell, yet still being in the game, we absolutely cemented our deserved defeat. Two late goals in the final 5 minutes seen the score finish 6-3.
