Away league match

Our third away game in a row, and 4th overall in the space of 10 days started fairly slowly at a ground where we usually struggle. Tidy defending from both sides seen minor chances snuffed out early on before Sean Caffrey continued his recent goal scoring habits by lofting the ball over the keeper as a result of a clinical counter attack. We began to grow into the game by having larger spells of possession and looking after the ball a lot more however the scoreline would remain the same going into half time. The only chance of note prior to the break was a great save by Symington keeping out a free kick from 20 yards or so out.

We soon doubled our lead just after half time, Dom Solman's pin point through ball found Andy Smith in the area who slotted past the keeper from close range. Sean Caffrey was then at it again by scoring his 4th goal in 2 games, taking his chance superbly, once he was released again by man of the match Liam Donnelly. Donnelly then capped a great individual performance on the night, adding to his two assits, by grabbing his third goal of the season. A very, very well worked team goal ended in Chris Sheldon teeing up Donnelly who found the top corner beautifully from the edge of the area with a curling strike. Minor disappointment at the end of the game as we conceded with 5 minutes to go to wipe out a deserved clean sheet for Symington in goal.

The positive about having so many games in the early stages of the season is that you can change an average start into a fairly good one within the space of a week, which we've managed to do. We now have FIVE home games on the bounce, where we'll be looking to really get into our stride and conitnue aiming for the top of the table. All starting with Whitley Bay Boys Club this weekend.
