Whitburn Athletic 3-0 Blyth FC

<p>A big improvement both in performance and result after last weeks disappointment. A game with not an awful lot of quality as the wind claimed most opportunities to play, however we ground out a well earned yet hard fought 3 points. Sean Caffrey once again on the scoresheet to start the days scoring, going through one on one down the left flank then placing his shot beneath the keeper. Struggling to get high up the pitch a lot of the time thanks to playing directly into the wind, we managed a second first half goal when Alex Eleazar found the bottom corner from the edge of the box. The score would remain 2-0 going into the break as we soaked up any pressure that came our way very well.

<p>A much more comfortable second half as the wind was behind us instead of against us. The scoreline by the end of the game should have read more with the chances we created and missed however the game was eventually killed when debutant Mick Cave found the net via the inside of the post.

<p>Three points, and a clean sheet to match is exactly what we needed in response to last weeks horror show. We take another break from the league next weekend as we travel to Northbank Carlisle in the cup.
