Welton started out the game on top by grabbing an early goal courtesy of Jamie Knight. However, the lead didn’t last long when Farrington equalised midway through the first half and then took the lead minutes later. Whilst a goal behind, Welton looked the stronger side and the pressure finally paid off when Liam Ring caught Farrington off guard with a great run from the defence to lay off Bradley Tyler who slotted home the equaliser. Welton remained the better side for the rest of the half and took the lead just before half time when Matt Pearce crossed the ball which allowed Rob Kearney to finish into an empty net.
Welton again started out the second half the much stronger of the two teams, looking like they wanted more goals and extended their lead when Jamie Knight smashed the ball into the bottom corner for his second goal of the game. Farrington looked like they were going to pull a goal back but could not find a way past the Welton defence who were confident not to concede a goal for the remainder of the game. Rob Kearney then slotted his second goal of the game from a very quick counter attack, keeper getting a hand to it but not enough to stop it ending up in the back of the net. From there on Farringtons hopes of a comeback faded and then proved costly after a Farrington defender made a clumsy challenge on Dan Leworthy in the box awarding Welton the penalty allowing Rob Kearney to complete his hat-trick making the final score of 6-2.
