vs Welling U11 Wings
Home league match
With most players having already played two games the day before we knew this would be a very challenging game against a strong fresh Wings side.
That being said the boys done a great job of getting back to 2-2 at half time having gone 2-0 down to two long range strikes.
2-1 Sonny gets taken down in the box and Jaydn puts away the resulting penalty
2-2 Sonny smashes the ball across the box which goes through the keepers legs and Harry knocks it in.
The 2nd half started well but before long it was clear to see that our boys were beginning to struggle and feel the effects of a long hard weekend of football, playing long balls instead of playing through the thirds which has become a major feature of our play.
An unlucky clearance from out No1 rolled very fortunately into the path of a wings playing who couldn't miss with the goal gaping.
The shortly after a diagonal ball from the right caught our boys napping and their striker just about reached it to make the score 4-2.
There was no doubt that had we been fresher and had fresh legs on the bench (we only had 9 players) our lads would have coped a lot better with the opponents and the conditions.
The game was ended slightly early after our midfield warrior Sid was completely taken out from behind by a young man who had been putting it about a bit the whole game. Rightly he was given a card by the ref but weather or not the colour of said card was the right colour is extremely debatable.
So the game ended on a sour note and we tasted defeat for the 1st time this season.
They say a lot can be learnt about a player/team after a defeat and how they bounce back back.
Another tough game next week against an unbeaten side, How will our boys respond??
