Away league match

Newport Pagnell Lions 4-3 WEY Blues.

First half we were much the better team and the opposition barely got out of their half of the pitch. We got a deserved opener through Zack who rolled the ball past the keeper after 8 minutes. We continued to pressure the opposition and controlled the game however a couple of mistakes led to their opening goal.

Sino scored from a strong shot after 23 minutes and we went in at half time 2-1 up. A great first half and the boys showed alot of energy.

2nd half was a different game as the opposition got some confidence and we didnt get as many challenges in and gave the ball away.

They scored from a corner that went off the post and then a high shot bounced and deceived the defence.

A great run and lob from Oliver got us back to 3-3. We lost a bit of shape in midfield and allowed them to break again and they scored a fourth. The boys buckled down and showed the fighting spirit again in an attempt to get back in the game but it wasnt to be.

I was proud of the boys today as technically not one of our better games but passion and belief and trying a couple of different things was more important.

Both challenges met!!

George was MOM as he covered well again at centre back and doing simple things well.

Special mention of Ben who pulled off a couple of great saves again in goal and Zack who covered the whole pitch and more in helping out his team mates.

Really proud of the whole team and as I said at the end they have all developed as players and as a team and also I hope you see they have all developed individually and grown in confidence!!
