Washington FC Wildcats welcomed Consett A.F.C. Juniors Pumas to the Northern Area Playing Fields on the morning of 11 October 2025 for an early 8:45am league fixture. The Wildcats produced a commanding performance to secure an emphatic 8-1 victory in this 11-a-side contest played over 80 minutes plus added time. From the outset, Washington FC asserted their dominance and rarely looked troubled by their visitors.

Washington FC lined up in a 4-1-3-2 formation, deploying a solid defensive unit with Olivia in goal, flanked by Sophia at right back and Angel at left back. Central defence was marshalled by Sienna and Emily, providing a strong backbone. Demi operated as the lone central midfielder, tasked with shielding the defence and linking play. Ahead of her, the attacking midfield trio featured Kayla on the right, Ella centrally, and Layla on the left, all expected to create chances and support the two forwards. Up front, Charlotte occupied the right forward position with Ruby on the left, both charged with leading the line and converting opportunities. The substitutes bench included Keira, Niamh, Katie, Mya, and Molly, ready to impact the game as required.

The scoring opened in the 20th minute when Layla capitalised on a short pass from Charlotte inside the box, slotting home a close-range finish with her right foot. Just five minutes later, the first substitution saw Keira replace Charlotte, followed shortly by Niamh coming on for Layla in the 29th minute. Keira wasted no time making her mark, unleashing a stunning long-range strike with her left foot from outside the box to double the Wildcats’ lead in the 31st minute.

The defensive reshuffle began in the 33rd minute as Katie and Mya entered the fray, replacing Emily and Sophia respectively. Washington’s fluidity was evident as Niamh delivered a precise cross to Ruby, who tapped in at close range with her right foot in the 35th minute, extending the advantage further. The half closed with Washington comfortably ahead 3-0.

At half-time, the Wildcats made two more changes, bringing Molly on for Ruby and reinstating Charlotte in place of Kayla. This fresh impetus paid dividends almost immediately as Ella struck a powerful long-range effort with her right foot from outside the box in the 43rd minute, making it 4-0.

The second half saw Molly continue her influence, scoring a close-range goal inside the box in the 47th minute. Demi was substituted off for Layla in the 53rd minute, signalling a tactical tweak. Keira then capitalised on a defensive error to score with her left foot in the 55th minute, followed swiftly by Niamh adding a left-footed finish inside the box a minute later. The defensive reshuffle continued with Sophia and Emily returning to replace Angel and Sienna respectively in the 57th minute.

Molly struck again in the 62nd minute, taking advantage of another defensive mistake to score with her left foot, further cementing Washington’s dominance. Ella was replaced by Ruby in the 63rd minute, maintaining the attacking threat. Consett A.F.C. Juniors Pumas managed a consolation penalty goal in the 77th minute, their sole moment on the scoresheet.

The final substitution came in the 80th minute as Kayla returned to the pitch, replacing Katie. The match concluded with Washington FC Wildcats triumphant by a resounding 8-1 margin, a comprehensive display of attacking prowess and tactical discipline at their home ground.
