We were set for a good game today with an opponent, that, when we are on form, we can surely beat!
Unfortunately, we started with only 10 players against a Rotherfield 11+sub.
We were a bit rusty after a run of bad weather paused the season and a some errors led to the opponent scoring in 7 minutes and again at 21 minutes, putting us on the back foot we worked hard with Noah firing a nice long range strike...looked like through the keepers legs.... quickly they came back and we were 1-5 down at half time.
We changed the formation to start the second half based on Jack's superb performance in the first half of working tirelessly pressing and pressing and tackling with some excellent passes. This allowed us to move Ben O further up the field and I must say that this looked like working for the first 20 minutes where play was all in their half and we began dominating the game.
Unfortunately they scored a further 2 in succession and then Ben Bates suffered a nasty ankle injury while making a tackle. Ben made some superb key tackles today and losing him at this point was a disaster and we lost our shape and focus. Jake managed to grab us a further goal back but now down to 9 men against 11 with a fresh sub we gave up!
