Vtoons FC Struggle As Phantom FC Claim 3-1 Win

Vtoons Football Club hosted Phantom FC at Uyo on 3 December 2025 with kick-off at 4:00pm in an 11-a-side encounter that ended in a 3-1 defeat for the home side. Despite their efforts, Vtoons FC were unable to overturn the visitors’ dominance across the 90 minutes plus added time.

Vtoons lined up in a 3-5-2 formation, deploying three central defenders to provide a solid defensive base. The midfield five were expected to control the centre of the park and supply the two forwards with opportunities to break down Phantom FC’s defence. The wing-backs had the dual responsibility of supporting both defence and attack on the flanks, while the central midfielders aimed to dictate tempo and regain possession. Unfortunately, no details of the starting eleven or substitutes were provided.

The first half saw both teams test each other cautiously, with Vtoons attempting to establish control through their midfield five. However, the visitors’ fluidity and sharper attacking intent soon became apparent. By the 45th minute, the half-time whistle signalled a break with Phantom FC in the ascendancy.

Second half started and both sides were up and running. As the second half progressed Phamtom Fc were able to find the back of the net but Vtoons protested against the decision because a fowl had been committed earlier against Vtoons leaving Vtoons player on the ground which the ref ignored. After much protest the ref stood by his decision and continued, Vtoons pressed and hoped to equalize but Phantom Fc didn't allow and they added two more goals later following error from captain Isaac Joshua. Eberechi got a consolation goal for Vtoons Fc when he scored in 90+5 to end the match 3-1.

This result means Vtoons will have to win or draw their next match to qualify for the next round of the tournament.
