Trowbridge Town U15s travelled to face Wroughton Silverbacks in a pulsating U15s cup tie at Wroughton on 23 November 2025, kicking off at 11:30am. The match ended in a dramatic 7-6 victory for Trowbridge Town after 80 minutes of intense football plus a penalty shoot out, showcasing a remarkable display of attacking football and resilience from both sides.
Trowbridge Town lined up in a 4-4-2 formation, deploying four defenders at the back with Austin Cooper on the left, Jake Wells and Charlie Amor centrally and Leo Shepherd on the right. This defensive quartet was tasked with providing solidity and covering the flanks when the wing-backs pushed forward. The intensity escalated as the match progressed. At the 70th minute Ollie Curtis extended Trowbridge’s advantage with a well-taken goal inside the box, assisted by Archie Lee-Marin, demonstrating the midfield’s influence in the attacking third.
However, defensive lapses crept in for Trowbridge, allowing Wroughton to claw back with goals at the 77th and 83rd minutes, both resulting from defensive mistakes. These strikes reignited the contest and put pressure on Trowbridge to hold firm.
At the 86th minute, Ollie Curtis was substituted off for Leo Shepherd, adding fresh legs to the midfield as the match entered its final stages. The closing moments were frenetic, culminating in a 2-2 draw.
Penalties beckoned
Wroughton drew first blood then Roman Snow scored his penalty matched by an immediate reply from Wroughton. Remarkably, goalkeeper Harry Millwaters also scored a penalty in this sequence, highlighting the extraordinary nature of the shootout-like finish. Henri Turner missing his penalty advantage Wroughton then missed their fourth penalty blazing over the bar, Leon Jones made it 3-3, Wroughton narrowly dispatched there fifth penalty with Harry Millwater’s getting a hand to it , Roy Muffalo scuffed his penalty but still beat the keeper 4-4.
Into sudden death and Wroughton hit the post with there sixth penalty and advantage Trowbridge.
Leo Shepherd stepped up and coolly slotted home his penalty sealing the victory for Trowbridge Town in a nail-biting finish.
This cup away win was a thrilling encounter marked by attacking verve, defensive errors, and a penalty shootout. Trowbridge Town’s ability to respond to setbacks and their clinical finishing ultimately earned them a memorable 7-6 triumph over Wroughton Silverbacks.
