In a gripping league match held at Mombasa on 5th July 2025, Tononoka Sports Club faced off against Wayani Utd, with the match concluding in a 1-1 draw. The game kicked off at 4:30 pm, showcasing the competitive spirit of both teams as they vied for crucial points in the league standings.
Tononoka lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, a tactical setup designed to provide both defensive solidity and attacking flair. Salim Nyondo occupied the goalkeeping position, shielded by a back four comprising Thomas Maitha on the right, Sammy Paul on the left, and central defenders Gilbert Simiyu and Willis Ouma. In front of the defence, Shadrach Kiprotich and Tunje Alfred operated as central midfielders, tasked with linking play and providing support to the attacking trio. Victor Kilonzo played on the right wing, while Thomas Chacha occupied the left, with Michael Nzaro positioned centrally as the attacking midfielder. In a tactical move, Tononoka made a substitution in the 40th minute, bringing on Caleb Temba for Tunje Alfred. This change aimed to bolster their midfield presence and regain control of the game following the equaliser.
