We won 1-0 today through a brilliant direct free kick by Tunje - a real screamer that lit up the game. The opponent came out more physical and aggressive, and we were second-best in that first half, sluggish and disconnected. But the second half was a different story. We came out with fire, fought for every ball, and showed what it means to wear this badge. It wasn’t tactics that won us the game today - it was raw fight, attitude, and a refusal to back down.
Salim was heroic between the sticks, pulling off wonder saves to keep us in it. We created plenty of chances in the second half and could’ve buried the game, but poor finishing let us down. That has to improve. The win keeps us alive in the title race, but the job is far from done.
Coach Emmanuel summed it up perfectly: “Congratulations to the boys for the fight - but let’s not get carried away. We missed too many chances. If we want to challenge Tononoka Academy, we have to be ruthless. If we can’t beat them, then who exactly are we planning to beat? That’s the standard now. There’s pride in the win - but more work to do. The hunger must stay."
