Tolbooth recorded back to back victories over Premier Divison opposition to book a place in the last 4 of the Association Trophy. From the 6-2 victory over St Laurence last time out, record goalscorer Shand was unavailable and Grant injured. Tolbooth welcomed back captain Scott Keith, Simpson, Bain and Buchan into the squad.
It was a perfect start when Tolbooth went 1-0 up inside 10 minutes as Fuller's long ball over the Westdyke defence was latched onto by Sean Keith who beat the on rushing goalkeeper to the ball and rolled into the empty net. The visitors started to look a threat and almost equalised when deflected strike cannoned back off the cross bar. Tolbooth continued to soak up pressure, while looking extremely dangerous on the counter. Midway through the first half, the second goal arrived. Sean Keith once again went past the Westdyke right back and superbly finished across the goalkeeper. Before the interval the lead was almost three when Paterson cross found Sean Keith who's effort crashed back off the post.
Into the second half, the game was killed off when Sean Keith's corner was speculartly flicked home by Glennie. Despite having bulk of second half possesion, Westdyke never looked like breaching the Tbooth defensive line. The ball was in the back of net for a 4th time, but Riley was unfortunate to have a goal wrongly disallowed for offside. Substitue Michie was then unlucky to see his strike from outside the box beat the goalkeeper but come back off the bar. The skipper Scott Keith almost marked his return with a goal with well struck effort from the edge of the box that curled just wide. Simpson was next to test the frame of the Hazelhead goal when his strike on the angle hit the inside of post after a fine Tbooth move. Final score 3-0
MOTM: Sean Keith
Overall a deserved victory for Tolbooth - not a vintage display, but the lads defended well and a consistent threat on the counter. Unlucky to not add a little more gloss to the scoreline.
All the best to Westdyke for rest of the season.
