Tolbooth hosted Grammar FPs at a blustery Hazelhead in the Dickie Trophy second round. Petrie, Hay, Murray and Booth all came into the starting line up from last time out vs Polska. While Sean Keith, Grant Mearns, Fraser Adam, Grant Rattray, Stuart MacLeod and Ryan Gray were all unavailable, Stuart Riley remains sidelined through injury.
Tolbooth started on the front foot, with it taking 5 minutes to break the deadlock. Shand beat the offside trap from Glennie through ball, Shand's initial effort was well saved by the foot of the goalkeeper, but the rebound fell kindly to Shand who was left with a simple tap in from close range. Tolbooth sustained pressure, but it wasn't till the 25th minute the 2 goal lead arrived. Glennie the scorer this time, when his speculative strike from 30 yards flew over the goalkeeper into the net. Tolbooth continued to create and squander chances until the 39th minute, Simpson cut in from the left and curled the ball on the angle into the bottom corner. A quick fire double sent Tbooth clear before the break, on 42 minutes Shand superbly finished a neat move after a great final pass from Glennie. Then on the stroke of half time Simpson got his second of the afternoon when Buchan's ball across the box was smashed into the net with a well exucuted strike. 5-0 at the interval.
On the 48th minute, Buchan's excellent solo run down the right hand side from half way was squared to Shand who completed his hatrick with a backheel finish. It was 7-0 on 55 minutes when Buchan got a well deserved goal. Again Buchan drove past the Grammar defence before cutting in from the right and finishing with composed strike on the angle. Tolbooth were unlucky not to add further goals when Michie was twice denied and fellow substitute Paterson struck wide from just inside the 18 yard box. On 76 minutes, Tolbooth Touchline Technican Dickie Holt got his first minutes of the season replacing Booth. A lack of match sharpness was unfortunately evident for the big man when he squandered a good chance late on. The final whistle went with Tolbooth 7-0 winners.
