Tolbooth hosted Glendale at Hazlehead, with the boys looking to close the gap on leaders Echt at the top of Division 1 East.

The visitors started the game the better, with the Booth sloppy in possession and second to many loose balls. The opener came from Glendale on 18 minutes as Scott Keith failed to clear a routine ball into the box which was fired into the roof of the night by the grateful visiting striker.

The Booth continued to struggle to create clear openings, but after defending a series of corners they began to threaten an equaliser with Shand and Simpson both going close, however the visitors went into the interval one goal to the good.

Following a frank exchange of views at the interval, the Booth started the second half in dominant fashion, pressing the visitors into mistakes in their own half. Twice each Sean Keith and Shand spurned excellent opportunities to equalise with good goalkeeping and uncharacteristic slack finishing keeping the booth behind.

The breakthrough finally came on 63 minutes when Glennie cleverly found Sean Keith in the box who made no mistake from 8 yards. Dickson-Halet, deputising in the sticks for the first time this season, then found Glennie from a long goal kick with the booth number 4 lobbing the keeper to put the home side ahead on 69 minutes.

Glendale responded with a few snapshots which were dealt with by Haelt and almost snatched an equaliser when they struck the bar form inside the box.

On 81 minutes the Booth secured a vital 3 points when another long ball, this time from Fuller, was latched onto by Sean Keith who lobbed the onrushing keeper before tapping into the empty net.

Tolbooth defended the last 10 minutes strongly to secure a vital 3 points against a hard working Glendale side.

Weather permitting, next week sees the Tolbooth travel to Sportsman’s in the North of Scotland cup 3rd round.
