After a slow start to the season, Tolbooth got the 3 points this evening vs FC Polska at Inverdee. Tolbooth again started brightly and raced into a 2 goal lead. Shand superbly dinked over the onrushing goalkeeper and then right back Buchan doubled the lead with a great finish from close range. Tolbooth wasted some good opportunities, before the home side found a way back into the game after some great feet from the winger left a simple finish from close range. Before the half was out, Tolbooth maintained their 2 goal cushion when Scott Keith converted a penalty after a deliberate hand ball. Score at half time 1-3.

Tolbooth continued to look threatening going forward, but it was the home side who scored next and set up a goal frenzy finish. Chapman clattered the Polska striker inside the box on 60 minutes and the resulting penalty was dispatched to make it 2-3. 6 minutes later they drew level, Tolbooth failed to clear the danger and Polska seized the opportunity with a great finish into the bottom corner. The stunned Tolbooth reacted and a real bit of quality from Simpson fired us 3-4 up after a curling free kick from the edge of the box. The home goalkeeper continued to pull of a string of impressive saves to keep Polska in the game and the equaliser arrived after a neat move was finished with a close range finish - 4-4. Minutes later and the winner arrived, centre back Hay heading home from a corner to give the Tolbooth a deserved victory!

Sometimes not the way you want to win games, but after our slow start to the season the boys dug deep and showed that never die attitude that served us well last season. Credit to Polska, who like ourselves set out with the objective to play football throughout.
