Last Match Result TPFCU18 7-1 Wargrave U18

Today's match was a game that Tilehurst were looking forward too, as Thatcham had gotten the better of us in previous seasons.

The game began with Thatcham quickly getting their stride and mounting attacks from midfield which had us defending resolutely to keep them at bay. We slowly began to get a foothold in the game and had a few counter attacks stemming from attacks down their flanks. We were beginning to push them back and began getting in behind their defence. In 15 minute Thatcham scored from lovely strike just outside of the 18 yard box which beat our keeper over her head, 0-1. 5 mins later I made 2 changes and then it all clicked and we took the game to Thatcham and just blew them away, goals in the 21st, 30th, 35th and 39 minutes scored by Maalani, Lydia 2, and Rhianna made it 4-1. All the goals scored including a super header by Rhianna resulted from excellent build up play through the 3rds and lethal finishing. HT 4-1 to TFPC.

The 2nd half started in the same vein as how the 1st half ended. The girls were enjoying themselves, first to the ball, tackling superbly and just didn't let Thatcham settle. 5 mins into the 2and half Lizzie won the ball just outside 18 yard box, advanced into the box and hit a teriffic right foot strike pass the keeper into the top right hand corner to make it 5-1. Thatcham did not give up and mounted attacks and a couple chances, but our defence and keeper held firm dealt with everything comfortably. In the 71st minute Danielle executed a neat turn in their box and hit a shot which went under the keepers dive, 6-1. We had other opportunities to score, FT 6-1. The 2nd half performance from the girls was just Superb against a very tough and decent Thatcham Tornadoes team that did not give up.

2 POTM- Lizzie and Millie, the defensive unit were also outstanding.
