New team thrum hall fcs pre season continued in the same vein. A well drilled performance but lacking the cutting edge in front of goal.
Trailing a new 3-5-2 formation manager ben Coates would have been happy with first half performance, there were few chances to report and even goalkeeper rick Stanger had time to showcase his silky skills on the ball by outfoxing an oncoming ryburn striker. The halls defence was solid overall, marshalled by captain phill Ogden and supported by the towering presence of Karl cartridge . This was however breached twice by two slick ryburn moves meaning the hall had it all to do in the second half trailing 2-0.
Manager Coates rang the changes at half time in an effort to salvage the game. Including rookie goalkeeper joe rabona Hoyle who was given the chance to impress. The game followed a similar pattern to the first half good passing and possession by both teams , hall were left frustrated in front of goal as chances came and went and long range efforts from chris dawson and David sudall narrowly missed the target. ryburn increased their lead to make the score 3-0. Shortly after hall received the breakthrough when a Casey corner was met by keir Watkinson who stabbed home from close range. Just as hall seemed to have a lifeline , a tame effort found it way through young keeper Hoyle , who will have nightmares over this. The much more experienced ryburn coming out on top 4-1.
As the ref blew the final whistle there was much to ponder for hall chiefs ben Coates and Marcus Williams , although this was another great performance there must be concerns over who will get the goals. With veteran striker hembers back from holiday and also gibby available for the next game there will certainly be options up front for the new manager. But with signing on deadline approaching you do wonder if the manager is considering moving for a proven goal scorer ?
