Well what a day for football for the Thrum HALL lads, 25 degrees heat with a sight that no one wanted to see…… Tapends so called ‘6 pack’ on display on the sidelines.
With the soaring temperature the two Managers spoke to the referee and made the decision to have 3 30 minute halves to fit in water breaks.
Hall Manager Marcus had 15 lads to choose from for our first real preseason game this year against King Cross park.
With Tapend getting the nod ahead of his younger and more agile brother anything could of happened.
Hall got off to a great start with a fantastic free-kick from Captain Marvel himself Jonathan Gibson.
King cross came back with some slick passing by the front too and a questionable decision by the referee, they grabbed a goal to make it 1-1
Hall had to act, so up steps debutant Regan with an half volley finish from a well worked move by Hall, by Jonathan Suddal and himself. 2-1 to Hall
Hall have worked on there passing display in training the last couple weeks, and it was here to see. Having working the ball around the final third and working ball to Hembers and Shep on the right flank, the ball was crossed from deep to yep you guessed it Mr Gibson with a fantastic header to claim his 2nd of the game. 3-1
King cross managed to claw another back due to some some hesitation at the back, very sloppy on Halls part. 3-2, and that was the end of the first 30 minutes.
Back in the next 30 minutes and King cross started brightly, just like the sun, with a well worked move in to the halls box, must of caught Hall napping……. Well Especially Carl. 3-3 the score
Time to make some changes, keeper for keeper, ginger for ginger, brother for brother. See how the younger Tap could do a job and debutant Regan for another ginner Josh…… God I hope they all have some sun cream on.
Hall were working the ball well but just couldn't finish and King Cross had the post and bar on their side after some efforts from Jonathan Gibson and our own Ukraine superstar Jan aka John for short
King Cross then worked the ball out about some good saves down low for Tap Jr, but then the 7 footer was beaten to everyone's surprise in the air…….. A Lucky cross on King Crosses Park, in to the top corner….. The sun will claim that goal. 4-3
In to the last water break and Hall knew they had to get there heads on. All still high in spirits all knowing we could get something from the game.
Some magic work in the back three by another debutant Stefan, after sending the winger and striker for hotdogs many times played a ball down the middle with 5 mins to go our own David Suddal with a tidy finish to make the scores 4-4
And that's how it finished, both sides happy with the results as for Hall they were many of positives to have.
On to next week, away to the 7 finger land of Todmorden to face Woodhouse United, let's hope it's not a farmers field again.
