Not At THE Races | TOP CLUB 3-0 THE TURF

This game was always going to be a tough one against a much more experienced and threatening team, but to come away with only a 3-0 loss on a day when we weren't even at our best, says a lot about our potential if we simply tighten up the screws, work hard for each other, and get a goal or two.

The game kicked off and things were looking okay, we were under pressure from the opposition, but dealt with everything they threw at us. However, our problems were our own undoing, simple mistakes such as not closing their players down and letting them play the ball with too much time and space put us on the back foot. And it wasn't long before we ended up conceding due to that fact.

We conceded the first goal and our heads dropped, we struggled to get back into things and our passing became sloppy. However there was still fight left in us and we never stopped trying. From the back, we defended well and even created a few chances ourselves. With Seb busting a gut on the left and Niall on the right. Both were presented with great chances to equalise AND put us in the lead. Unfortunately we failed to capitalise on the chances and eventually went 2-0 down.

With the start of the second half and a few changes, we seemed to press harder on the opposition, but never seemed to truly threaten them. With a strong defence, we held them at bay, until a third goal came from a passed free kick as the striker had too much time to think about his next move, before slotting it in the bottom corner from range to make it 3-0.

Overall, this game was always going to be a difficult one against a much stronger team, but the final score was only 3-0, a far cry from last seasons regular scoreline. On a day when we weren't playing at our best and to only conceded three goals says a lot about our improvements as a team. We may have lost, but there are a lot of positives to take away from this match.
