A tough loss to take for the Fozzers today as the Birmingham based Hardley Athletic, pushed and kicked their way to a narrow victory over the spritely Fozzers. Both teams lacked any real attacking flair with the Fozzers in need of the Gask-Clarke Brothers pace in attack; Reece out injured with a broken metatarsal, Jamal on international duty with St Lucia. This led to last weeks hero Gremayoko leading up top on his own, although he struggled with little service from the rest of his team and a lack of creativity from himself. Choudhury took the responsibility on the left wing although he was sloppy with possession, but did have some good movement. Anoszeznko filled in on the right and again created a few chances, although a poor first touch saw him lose possession on a number of occasions. Hughes had a decent game in the engine room, dropping back when necessary while also making some good sweeping runs. He did lack direction with some of his passes, but I think overall he can be happy with his performance. Kirby and Suddick were the stars of the evening at the back, matching the physicality of Hardley and stopping a number of good chances. Holloway looked good at first but did make a few distribution errors that lead to the winning goals, so he won't be happy with himself. The sad story of the game came from Louis Scallon getting barged in to the advertising boards only two minutes in to his substitute appearance. A suspected sprained shoulder and concussion sent him to the medics, but he'll be sad he couldn't use his strength to overpower the Hardley player, just as he did against the Chinese national team just a few short years ago. We wish Scallon and Gask-Clarke the best with their injuries and look forward to the fozzers next fixture, where they will be pushing for the 3 points to have a fighting chance in the Thursday 2nd Division.
