1°c when we arrived at the match. It was really difficult for the kids to get warmed up. We had it all, freezing temperatures, rain and even snow.
The game started with us creating chances and defending well but conceding the first goal. Only to switch on and grab a great goal to make it 1-1 thanks to a great ball from Josh to Alfie who rounded the keeper after some great work and slotted in his first of the game. After the break Tansley really turned on the style, they begin to stop the opposition's stronger player from playing, and in turn created plenty of chances! 2 goals from Josh followed by another 2 for Alfie to make minis hat trick, led to us playing against the power play rule for the first time ever. Some excellent defending from all the other players who tried really hard to keep them from attacking and Liam deserves a mention too for staying switched on despite not having so much to do, and being r4ally cold throughout. All the defenders did extremely well when called upon. Wirksworth did grab another goal when they had the extra player but hardly had a sniff when we had even sides.
We are all really proud of the team for their effort and determination and feel this win is long overdue.
