Late Goals Sink Disappointing Lions

Three goals in the last ten minutes put the seal on a disjointed performance by the Lions, who failed to capitalise on a decent first half. The absence of our regular strikers was keenly felt as we were unable to find the net for the first time this season.

We actually started the game pretty well and should really have been ahead through a first-half goalmouth scramble that seemed to go on forever. So many people had a chance to put the ball in the back of the net, including Ed but it just wouldn't go in. Harry had a free kick tipped over the bar and Dom was put through one-on-one but his shot was saved by the keeper's leg.

Double H didn't have a shot on target in the first half but they were much stronger in the second half. In contrast, we never really got going after the break and didn't create any chances at all. Can't remember any shots on goal from us and Double H weren't that much better in

a rather low quality game.

They did test Nader with a low shot that he just turned round his right hand post. He couldn't repeat that feat with a very similar shot late into the game. He got a the same hand to it but the ball had just enough momentum to roll almost sheepishly over the line.

Their second goal was straightforward ball over the top, with their forward outsprinting Mike and hitting it on the half-volley to loop into the goal. Then in the dying seconds of the match, the ball got sent low across the face of the goal from right and it was an all too easy tap-in for the third with virtually the last kick of the game.

Rubbish game, not helped by the downpour in the second half and not a match that we should have lost, especially by 3 goals. Harsh reality though, was that we struggled in front of goal in this game.
