Home friendly match
Sunshine FC hosted Future Guys at Oke-Afa Government School on 11 October 2025, kicking off at 2:00pm in an 80-minute friendly encounter that ended in a 0-0 stalemate. The match, overseen by referee Mr Emmanuel, saw both sides locked in a tactical battle with neither able to break the deadlock.
Sunshine FC lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking creativity. P. Prince guarded the goal, supported by a back four comprising two central defenders, Koulibaly and Adegoke Ibrahim, flanked by Right winger David and Center back Marvelous on the right and left as makeshift fullbacks. In midfield, W. Winner and Arowosegbe Henry operated as the double pivot, tasked with shielding the defence and distributing play. Ahead of them, the attacking midfield trio featured G. Great on the right, Achie Destiny centrally, and Nwana Somtochukwu on the left, all charged with linking midfield and attack. The lone striker Ola led the line, expected to capitalise on chances created by the attacking midfielders.
The first half unfolded with both teams probing cautiously, seeking openings but maintaining defensive discipline. Despite several attempts, neither side managed to find a breakthrough before the interval, which arrived at the 40-minute mark. Sunshine FC’s midfield duo worked hard to control possession, while the attacking midfielders looked to create chances, but the final ball often lacked the necessary precision to test Future Guys’ defence seriously.
In the second half, the pattern of play remained largely unchanged, with Sunshine FC pressing to find a goal and Future Guys defending resolutely. The home side’s full-backs contributed to both defence and attack, supporting the wide midfielders, but clear-cut opportunities remained scarce. The lone striker’s presence was felt in holding up the ball and attempting to bring teammates into play, yet the opposition’s defensive organisation prevented any clear openings.
As the match progressed towards its conclusion, both teams showed signs of fatigue, and the tempo dropped slightly. Despite the efforts of Sunshine FC’s attacking midfielders and central midfielders to inject creativity and energy, the final whistle confirmed a goalless draw. The match provided a useful platform for both sides to assess their tactical setups and player performances ahead of more competitive fixtures.
Overall, Sunshine FC’s 4-2-3-1 formation offered a balanced approach, but the inability to convert possession and chances into goals meant they had to settle for a point against a well-organised Future Guys side at Oke-Afa Government School.
