Last Match Result

It was third time lucky for Stradbroke against Haughley, in a cup tie. Stradbroke were undoubtedly the stronger team frustrating the opposition. Haughley struck first against the run of play with a looping shot that Jude couldn't quite get his fingertips to it. Stradbroke though continued the pressure and soon Robin was on the end of a cross from. Then a fantastic through ball from Lewis for Vinnie to strike in a goal. With only 15 mins left to go and against the run of play Haughley managed to get one back after a back pass to and miskick by Jude in the box landed at a Haughley players feet with an open goal. The game could so easily have been 7-2 though with Vinnie and Jordan's shots going just wide and Tom being clear through on an empty goal only to see the ball bobble just wide. There were also great corners from Ollie and Jimmy that no one in the box could get through an open space! In the end penalties decided the game Ollie, Jordan, Jai and Jimmy scored and Jide in goal put on a great saving display for the game to finish 2-2 (4-3 PENS). Player of the match was Jude. The celebrations were fantastic as Jude got jumped by everyone, including me! Myself and Paul are so incredibly proud of the boys! It is testament to their drive, commitment and team bond that the season has been the team's best one by far!
