Stoneywood welcomed Nairn to Stauff Park as they faced the team that was relegated with them last season and who beat them comprehensively twice last season.

Stoneywood started the game strongly and went 1-0 up in the 4th minute after a long ball down the right hand side was controlled by Curtis who cut inside the box moving dangerously into the center but then lays it off to Reece who shoots from just inside the box into the top Left Hand Corner, for his 2nd goal in 3 games.

After Dylan had a looping header pushed onto the bar Nairn started getting back into the game and Daniel had to make 2 good saves from close range shots in the 10th and 11th minute

Zimmie had a shot just glance off the outside of the post in the 13th minute after good work from Neale but in the 24th minute Nairn equalised after a quick break from them down Stoneywoods left hand side they pulled it back to just outside the box and after a good shot was blocked by Daniel the ball fell to Nairn who scrambled the ball home.

After the equalizer Nairn had the better of the half but neither teams created any chances of note for the rest of the half.

Half Time 1-1

The 2nd half continued in thw same vein as Nairn continued having control but not many chances for either side until the 68th Min when Stoneywood were awarded a free kick just in the Nairn half, Jordan floated in the free kick which Curtis managed to flick on for Dylan to meet at the back post to slot it past the keeper to make it 2-1.

Nairn did not back down though and were denied in the 73rd min when good play by them nearly put them 2 on 1 with Daniel but Connor managed to get a touch on the through ball and Daniel managed to clear.

Curtis was subbed off on the 83rd min after leading the line and getting 2 assists to be replaced by Tosh who had not played for a month due to injury and it took him less than 60 secs to get on the score sheet as he latched onto a long ball by Connor which led him to be 1 on 1 with the Nairn keeper and he managed to slot it by him to make it 3-1.

There was about 10 mins extra time after a couple of head clashes and Nairn pushed for a goal but Stoneywood managed to stand firm and hold out for a very good 3 points.

We wish Nairn St Ninian all the best for the rest of the season and look forward for our visit up there later in the season.

For Stoneywood it is a much needed victory which will hopefully kick-start the season, no game next week but back on the 14th Sept.
