A really competitive cup tie this morning against a strong Baillieston team. Baillieston beat us on pens last season in Reg Cup - and had a great season winning a cup and runners up in league and Regional - so we knew this would be a huge test as we looked to protect our excellent Scottish Cup record.
We asked the boys to start quick and aggressive but it was Baillieston who did that for the first 25mins and we were a shadow of our usual selves. Baillieston took the lead around 20mins and it was scrappy / avoidable from our perspective. Put us really up against it against a street smart team protecting a lead. From 30mins on we were better - with a huge improvement in the 2nd half.
Credit to the boys who did everything we asked of them at half-time. Dialled up the workrate, anticipated 2nd balls much better and passed the ball in tight areas with more patience and built attacks. Fin hit post just after halftime but it somehow stayed out. Then Eman hit the same post. Was looking like one of those days but we got a deserved equaliser on 60mins from Eman after good work from Shay. We were pushing hard now and our 2nd came straight from Adams corner. A great ball whipped in which went straight in with a few lads ready to tap home.
We had some chances to seal it but defended very well for the most part and saw the game out. Huge win in tough circumstances.
