The SSAFC suffered a close 2-1 defeat on what was a warm day at Hackney Marshes in a game which was end to end.

The SSAFC started brightly and looked to get the ball forward and the first shot of the match game from Deards who's effort was tipped over. Good play from Swales then holding the ball up and turning before hitting a left footed shot just wide and Wedge on the left had a good effort well saved by the West Ham goalkeeper. West Ham then took the lead when a long ball over the top wasnt dealt with and their striker smashed it past Brown in goal to make it 1-0!

West Ham then stepped it up and Brown was put in action making a low save before West Ham missed a few chances blasting over. The SSAFC then stepped up and a good free kick from Bell was palmed away by the keeper. From the resulting corner, an unmarked Jeorge Wedge missed the target. It just seemed it wasnt going to be the SSAFC day with the chances not being taken. The game was a real midfield battle and going into H/T the SSAFC could consider themselves unlucky.

The SSAFC started poorly in the second half and West Ham nearly took the lead but wasted their chances. The SSAFC then had a Chesworth header cleared off the line but the equaliser came when Jonni Wedge done well on the left and crossed in for an unmarked Lukas Deards who slotted home to make it 1-1. West Ham were stunned and the SSAFC looked to take advantage and it was Deards again who was through but his effort was well saved! Wedge then had a chance go wide. At the other end a cross found an unmarked West Ham head but Brown produced a world class save to push it wide!!

West Ham then took the lead when a long throw in wasnt dealt with and the header hit the post and went in! Harsh on the SSAFC but if you dont take your chances then thats what happens! The SSAFC continued to go for it and Deards missed a chance. The SSAFC pushed on but just couldnt get that equaliser and started their London Cup campaign with a narrow loss. Its not for the boys to bounce back as we travel to Cambridge Saturday in the second London Cup game.
