The SSAFC picked up a tough victory in wet conditions away at Northampton this morning in a good encounter.
The SSAFC started brightly with the midfield looking to get a hold of the ball but found a defensive side in Northampton hard to break down.
Jeorge Wedge had the first real chance shooting wide before Dutton had a great chance when put through but his lob went over.
Dutton then had an effort go wide with his weaker foot before Jack Dunn fired over. Northampton however had a few chances but none which caused Main in goal any problems.
The SSAFC took the lead with a very well worked goal when Dutton crossed into the back post with Bell heading back to Dunn who rolled the ball into the path of Stuart Rowe who hit it into the top corner.
The SSAFC looked to take advantage and did so with a second goal when a Rowe long throw in was flicked on by the Northampton defender into the far corner to make it 2-0.
Northampton looked to get back into the game and applied pressure which the backline dealt with. Woolf then had an effort just go wide on the stroke of half time.
The second half started slowly for the SSAFC who didn't start as quickly as they like with the first real effort being Wedge who drilled a shot which was tipped over.
Northampton had a good chance when a long ball found the striker who hit over. The SSAFC had a lucky break when a cross evaded Main but Wishart was on the line to head the ball away.
Dutton then had a fantastic chance when he sprung the offside trap but somehow blazed well wide.
Northampton then got a way back into the game when the ball wasn't cleared from a corner and their striker hit a strike which went into the bottom corner.
Northampton looked to get an equaliser but found the SSAFC backline solid and dealt with everything thrown at them before the whistle went for full time.
