SSAFC Pick Up First Win Of 2018

The SSAFC picked up their first win of 2018 with a convincing win over Luton on what was a cold morning at Ridlins.

The SSAFC started brightly but didn't create many chances with possession being the key. The first chance came with Wedge striking the ball which was parried wide.

The Luton keeper then was in fine form denying Wedge which became a recurring theme! Great play from Swales released Dunn who's pinpoint cross found Wedge with a powerful header which was tipped over.

The SSAFC kept the pressure up with shots from Rowe and Wedge being saved but it was an unlikely source who got the opening. A Ricky Dutton corner from the left found Daniel Ridley at the back post and his clever header found the far corner to make it 1-0.

The SSAFC mounted pressure and soon it was 2 when a deflected cross from the left wasn't dealt with and the keeper spilled the ball into the path of Jack Dunn who cooly smashed home.

It was Dunn again who's menacing wing play set up Daniel Swales who smashed home a left footed strike just before half time to make it 3-0.

The second half started the same with the SSAFC on top and the Luton keeper once again on form with smart stops from Teale and Woolf. The 4th arrived and it was Wedge on the left who's high lofted cross found Swales who rocketed a volley home.

The 5th was a scrappy one with Wedge heading the ball across the goal from a cross which Swales had the luxury of tapping in. Credit to Luton, they kept pluging away and had an effort which just narrowly went over the bar.

The 6th goal came with a quality assist from Teale on the left who whipped in a teasing ball into Swales who got ahead of the keeper heading home into the net.

Teale then got himself on the scoresheet when a corner in was only cleared to the edge of the box and Teale smashed a volley into the top corner.

The final goal came from good play on the left from Dunn who found an onrushing Dutton who smashed the ball low and hard to make it 8-0.
