Away league match

The SSAFC returned after a few weekends off to seal a good victory 6-0 away at Hampton & Richmond in a scoreline which was harsh on Hampton but showed the clinical finishing of the SSAFC!

The game started brightly with both Wedges on the wings causing problems and it was Wedge who created the first chance when a run left wing got to the byline and his pull back found an oncoming Woolf who powerful effort went just over! A positive start for the SSAFC but Woolf wasnt to be denied as the first goal came. Great hold up play from Swales on the left hand side of the box who then laid the ball to Woolf who slotted home calm and collectively, 1-0 to the SSAFC. Hampton then tried to get back into it but didnt have much which tested Court in goal. The SSAFC looked to get more goals and they got their second when Jonni Wedge on the wing whipped in a lovely low cross which found his brother Jeorge who beat his man at the front post and smashed it home from 6 yards. A lovely assist and goal from the Wedge brothers!

Chances fell for the SSAFC with Bell missing a header and Swales having a left footed strike well parried from the keeper. Hampton werent playing bad and had good spells on the ball but the SSAFC's shape gave them little room forward and anything that went forward was swept up by the backline of Barker & Ridley. The SSAFC then got a penalty when a corner wasnt cleared and Jeorge Wedge got a clip on the leg. Jonni Wedge stepped up and smashed it into the bottom right hand corner, an unstoppable penalty. The SSAFC saw out the remaining part of the first half to take a 3-0 lead into H/T

The second half started a bit sluggish for the SSAFC with Hampton applying pressure but not really testing Court who made a low save. The SSAFC then got on the scoresheet when good midfield play found the ball to Woolf who lofted the ball over the defender into the path of Jonni Wedge who smashed it low and into the net! Hampton then had a header go over and tried to get forward but the SSAFC defence stood firm. It was soon 5 when a fantastic counter attack was launched and Dan Ridley from centre back took on players and found himself one on one with the keeper but his effort was saved but fell to Wedge who found the net and got his well deserved hat-trick!

Dan Swales then got the goal his work-rate deserved when Jonni Wedge set him up superbly after quick thinking from a throw and Swales slotted into the far bottom corner to make it 6-0. The SSAFC saw out the rest of the game to seal the win and a good performance to boot!
